In the room where it happened!: Hamilton- Las Vegas
June 8th, 2018, I was finally in the room where it happened! I started listening to Hamilton The Musical, June 2016 and was instantly hooked. It was all I listened to for a good 6 months. During that time I never thought I was going to see the performance live. Broadway tickets were so expensive and hard to come by, and when the did start touring the shows everywhere around me sold out quick. The lottery is a joke (I NEVER WON!) and a major bummer every time you get the notification that you "didn't win and to not throw away your shot." But after a year and a half of trying to get tickets, I was finally able to score a ticket to the Las Vegas shows. Well I scored two, their system said my first ticket didn't go through and so I scrambled to find another ticket. It went through, but so did the first. I sold the second ticket and it all worked out.
Now onto the show! For those who don't know about Hamilton, an American musical (How? Have you been living under a rock. Kidding!) Hamilton is about the life of one of our founding fathers Alexander Hamilton. Tells the story of how he becomes General Washington's right-hand man, how he finds love, builds our nation, and his demise; all while rapping. When I bought my ticket back in April I was beyond excited. It was finally happening but as the waiting went on, my excitement died down a little. Yes, sure I was happy but not how I thought I would feel leading up to the show and when I was in my seat waiting for the show to start. But the second the first note started and Aaron Burr walks out on stage all the emotions hit and I began crying. A few sad tears, because I will never get to see Hamilton again for the first time, but a lot of happy tears. I was seeing Hamilton, a show I have been waiting to see for 2 years, live! The first 3 songs I watched through tears.
I loved every second of Hamilton. I had so much fun sing, laughing and crying in a live theater. It was so worth the 2 years and many many notifications of not winning the lottery to see Hamilton. I highly recommend! I cannot wait to see Hamilton again. I will make it happen! Seeing Hamilton has definitely sparked a bug in me, I want to see more live theater. And I am definitely going to try and see more.
I did a couple of first during this Vegas trip too. I had gone 4 years in a row for Thanksgiving and pretty much did it all, site seeing wise. There is this delicious vegan restaurant called Vegenation, and got breakfast at this place called Donut Bar and got massive donuts, the unicorn one was just ok and I totally only got it for an Instagram photo. Yes, I was that person. Also went to this ice cream store that was shaved iced ice cream. Strange concept but it was really good and a cool random experience. I don't remember the name of the shop but I think you could google it and find something. And lastly, went on a quick drive to Red Rock Canyon. Really cool, I want to go back when it's not 100+ degrees to explore and drive into the mountains.
